Calicut is flying high on start-up culture. Here is the curated list of ecosystem activities in July.
1. IEDC NODAL OFFICERS MEET
01 July Saturday | KSUM Calicut @ UL Cyberpark | 40 Faculties
Kerala startup mission is having Innovation and entrepreneurship cells (IEDC) in colleges. Today we have more than 180 IED cells across the state. IEDCs are acting as primary incubators in college level. Nodal officers from all IEDCs in Malabar region met with new CEO of startup mission Prof. Saji Gopinath.
Its high time for Engineering colleges to rethink their modal to become relevant in the online learning and MOOC era. Starting a startup will give more reasons for students to focus in academics and learn more. The colleges should consider IEDC as a prime activity not as a side one. Mini fablabs with MIT should be made open to local innovates also, Saji said. Faculties shared their concerns in day to day operations of IEDCs in colleges.

2. Startup 360 : Monthly workshop series by Duleep Sahadevan
05 Wednesday| KEY Accelerator @ UL Cyberpark| 18 Founders
KSUM and CAFIT jointly organized monthly workshop series on 360 degree of a SME company with Duleep Sahadevan on first week of the every month. The workshop series is focused on devising strategies for growth and expansion of the company, overseeing marketing and sales for the entire organization. This was an ideal session for all startups and SME’s.
This monthly workshop series will cover all relevant areas for running successful SMEs.
3. KSDIC Startup Kozhikode Event
06 Thursday | KSIDC @ Taj Gateway | 125 attendees
KSIDC organised the event Startup Kozhikode to promote young entrepreneurs in the region here on Thursday which was attended by 125 persons. The event had four sessions such as startup funding entrepreneurship, marketing, infrastructure availability, mentoring, etc.

4. Headstart Startup Saturday | All About Social entrepreneurship
08 Saturday | Headstart @ IIM Kozhikode | 93 attendess
Headstart is doing Startup Saturdays which are monthly meetups across 22 cities in India. Headstart calicut chapter which is launched 6 moths back is the second largest community in india in terms of average no of attendees in Startup Saturdays.
The theme for the month was social entrepreneurship. Mr Ullas marar from Villgro innovation foundation and Mr Sumesh Mangalasseri from Kabani community tourism shared their stories and insights in social entrepreneurship.

5. Jagritiyatra | Sustainable entrepreneurship Award
15 Saturday | Jagritiyatra @ IIM K | 60 People
Sustainable Enterprise Award 2017 supported by Coca-Cola India is an opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs, across 25 districts of India, having enterprise ideas in Water, Agriculture & Recycling fields.
6. Workshop on Johny Five -The JavaScript Robotics & IoT Platform
15 Saturday | Fox LAB Maker Space | 40 Students
Fox Lab is a maker space situated at Malappuram set up by Muhammed Jaseel. Jaseel was a fellow of Kerala startup mission in the first batch of fellowship. The Maker space is supported by Hackster Kerala and Kerala Startup Mission.
Every weekend there will be workshops and session for the local community . This months’s Workshop was on Johny Five -The JavaScript Robotics & IoT Platform.
7. FAYA:80 | Introduction to Angular 4 programming language
19 Wednesday | FAYA, NASCCOM @ CyberPark | 40 Developers
FAYA is a Technopark based company who are doing monthly developer sessions at Government Cyberpark, Calicut. Due to the quality of the contents, the demand to attend the session are high. Topic for the month was Angular 4.
Faya is doing monthly events in Trivandrum and in Kochi on First and second Wednesdays respectively.
8. Lets Goooooo! Hands on session on Go programming Language
Google Developer Group Kozhikode conducted session on Go programming language at Kerala Startup mission, UL Cyberpark Kozhikode on 22nd July 2017 . Go is an open source programming language that makes it easy to build simple, reliable, and efficient software.
Noufal Ibrahim who is the founder of PyCon India and member of the Python Software Foundation was the main speaker and presented at the event.
Google Developer Group Kozhikode (GDG Kozhikode) is a non — profit group for tech enthusiasts, programmers and students interested in technology. GDG Kozhikode conducts a bunch of regular events at Kozhikode, which may include hands on coding, tech talks etc… facebook.com/gdgkozhikode
More than 80 participants attended the program , among which there was 25% women participation . Hands on Coding session in lab was also conducted.
9. Reboot’17 by Calicut Forum for IT

Reboot is an annual tech conference for the IT professionals and aspirants, in Calicut. Calicut, as a city, has grown in various domains, especially in the IT sector.
